This was a Christmas present for my husband. He had been dreaming of a blu ray player for over a year. My son and I found this one on line and then researched it in the local stores. Bought it here because on line beat the store prices by $25-50. The quality of picture and easy of use is wonderful. We love the Netflix feature and find this very easy to use as well. Our one problem was set up and connection to the internet. We were struggling with this -- and I am fairly techie savey. Finally asked our son for help -- also very savey. He had a little difficulty, but eventually got us set up. That is a one time problem that once accomplished can be ignored. The pleasure and ease of watching blu ray quality movies and using netflix far out weighs the set up difficulty. Great blu ray player and well worth the price.

The electronics installer for our house suggested I avoid Samsung due to his companies' poor customer service experiences with Samsung. This unit had such good reviews and streaming options that I ignored him and bought two of these players for two different rooms. One player workerd fine. The other had problems with skipping, audio delay, and refusing to read the discs. These problems started almost immediately.
I sent the unit back under warranty. When the unit had been "repaired" and returned to me, it was packed in a different box that was too big for the unit. The unit was cracked on the top plate with scratches on the face. I called the company and they paid for the return shipping (how generous). However, I was without a player for another three weeks. The second "repair" had taken so long I called Samsung and requested a refund on the unit. They refused saying the unit was to be shipped the next day. I reluctantly waited.
The unit seemed to work fine for a couple of months, and then started having the same problems. I called Samsung who notified that a refund was still not an option AND I would be responsible for any labor costs. I protested, since the issues were the same from the beginning. They offered no consolation. I informed them I would never buy another Samsung product again. I have since read other customer reviews demonstrating erratic unit quality and difficulty obtaining appropriate repairs.
I have since replaced this unit with an Oppo BDP-83. A higher cost but clearly a higher-level quality of build. It has performed flawlessly for 6 weeks.
My wife recently wanted a new washer/dryer pair. We went with Electrolux, even though the Samsung reviews were good. Their loss on us as potential customers. I hope others can avoid the same unnecessary difficulties.

The BD-3600 had several issues. Amazon shipped this item to me 3 times, each brand new and defective. The DVD wouldn't do the handshake needed to put the HDMI cable in the HDMI/2 slot in my Samsung 46UN8000 LED. The tray would open and close by itself and the BLU-RAY movie would just freeze regardless of it being a DVD or watching a movie instantly with Netflix. Samsung told me yesterday that they were aware of the problem and trying to fix it but no date was given.

First off, please note that the controls for this Blu-Ray player are on the top. Depending on how you have your home theater components stacked, this could be an issue. Essentially, this unit must be the topmost item.
This unit has outputs for all your speakers, so you can skip having a separate receiver; or you can still use the optical/coax out for digital audio.
The picture is fantastic, even through component cables. The sound volume output via optical cable is lower than that of my existing Panasonic player. I had to increase the receiver volume by about 50% for movies compared to how they played on my existing DVD player.
The Netflix and Pandora interfaces are pretty easy to set up and use once you get the network working; that took some time, but ultimately worked. I've heard that it will not work with networks that have spaces in their names. Luckily, mine didn't and was not too difficult.
With regard to being "wireless", they've simply stuck a three inch WiFi dongle in the USB slot. It sticks out the back. It would appear to be just a USB network adapter that so many third-party network hardware makers sell, but this one is proprietary enough that you must have the Samsung dongle!
Ultimately, I had to return this unit. Even with the latest firmware update, this player has a frustrating problem with locking up during movies (Blu-Ray and DVD). Usually a power down will fix things, but sometimes not. There's a reset trick requiring you to push the FF button for 4+ seconds, but even that didn't work. Many of my son's Thomas-The-Tank-Engine DVD's kept locking up at the FBI screen (the DVD's are not scratched either). Those same movies play fine in our other players, but this Blu-Ray could not handle it. When I returned it, the service counter clerk told me I was the second person during her shift to return this same unit for lockup problems.
I traded -down- to an Insignia Blu-Ray player, but it had a defective motor (the box had been opened and was an obvious return, being sold as new).
I've since settled on a Samsung 1080p9 upconversion DVD player for about 1/4th the price of their Blu-Ray player. The upconverted DVD's look and sound fantastic, even the Thomas-The-Tank-Engine DVD's. And to answer my streaming Netflix and Pandora fix, I bought a Roku box.
I'll try Blu-Ray again in a few years when all the bugs get worked out.

I purchased the 3600 as it came with a wi-fi dongle and I figured I could use it on my new Samsung LED TV. While the dongles look identical the one supplied with the 3600 does not work with the TV and this was confirmed by technical. They want you to purchase another dongle for the TV. Better off buying the 1600 and a seperate dongle which is then Sansung universal.
